London based interior designer, Denise Doff, has lived in Marrakech for 12 years since she purchased and renovated a traditional riad in the spice souk of the medina.
Over this period she has a built a unique relationship with the craftsmen and traders in the city and the surrounding area.
Denise has a passion for the stunning Moroccan rugs which are a form of artwork, made over time by the village women. The rugs tell a story of traditional Berber life sometimes showing members of the family, doorways and mountains evocative of the world around them.
Whilst these items are traditional her interior designers eye is able to see how these rugs can add character and warmth to contemporary interiors. The natural colours work beautifully with wood floors and classic modern pieces of furniture.
